Addition

The process of adding numbers or amounts together

Example: Today we are learning addition

Add

Verb

Form: Add number to number

Example: If you add two to three, you get five

 

Subtraction

The process of removing one number from another

Noun

Now, You are learning subtraction

5=8-3

Eight minus three equals five

Minus sign:–

Minuend:8

Subtrahend:3

Difference:5

 Form: Minuend + minus + Subtrahend + Equals + Difference

Subtract

Verb

Form: Subtract + subtrahend + from + Minuend

Example: If you subtract three from eight, you get five

Take away

Verb

Form: Take + subtrahend + away + from + Minuend

Example: Take three away from eight equals five

 

 

Multiplication

The process of adding a number to itself a particular number of times, or a calculation in which this is done

Division

The calculation of how many times one number goes into another

2:Quotient

Ten divided by five equals two

Form: Dividend  + Divided + by + Divisor + Equals + Quotient

حالا اگر فرآیند تقسیم رو کاملا برعکس بیان کنیم به طوری که نشان دهنده ی بخش پذیری کامل باشد از حرف اضافه ی into استفاده میکنیم. در این حالت وارونه ی جمله ی ۱۰ بر ۲ بخش پذیر است را بیان میکنیم و عدد ۲ را اول می آوریم.

Two divides into ten five times

Please divide five into thirty-five

به بیان دیگر  در حالت Divisor  قبل از Dividend  بیان می شود.

 Form:Divisor + Divides+ into+ Dividend+ Quotient+ time/times

توان

توان به این معناست که عددی را به دفعات(توان) در خودش ضرب کنیم.

به بیان ساده مسیر بازگشت از به توان دو رساندن یک عدد می باشد. به این معنا که جذر یک عدد، ریشه ی دوم آن عدد است.
